Make Me Strong - Aris Siew

Released in 2010, Make Me Strong is Aris Siew's 3rd album. The album consists of 10 inspiring songs written by himself and other local distinguished talents. The songs were birthed during Aris Siew's intimate devotion in God's presence. They are ideal blessing when used in worship, devotion, prayer and maneuvering in KL traffic!

The title track 'Make Me Strong' is backed by an Afro Asian choir and drums played by leading gospel drummer and a member of Drummer For Christ: Lim Kok Yen. The ever popular song 'Everytime I Pray' is accompanied by nylon and steel string guitars, an African choir and orchestral arrangement. It starts off as an intimate prayer song and ends on a high majestic note that is befitting of El Shaddai! 'Everytime I Pray' is written by Ng Wah Lok and Voon Yuen Wah. For those who like vocalizing positive statements, there is a rap ballad in 'In Christ Is Hid'. This album will inspire you to inner peace, strength and purpose in God. Vincent Chin's melodious saxophone can be heard in 'Leaning On You'.

All songs are arranged and produced by Timothy Lee and recorded at Studio 2105. Mixing was done by JD. Mastering was done in US by mastering engineer Bob Olhsson. David Gary (of Altered Frequency) arranged for 'The Spirit' and 'Most Of All'. His arrangements are modern and refreshing to the album. James Yee (Chenaniah Studios) arranged and produced 'I Need You', a song written by Lourdes Dass.

Joshua Tong, plays acoustic and electric guitar for ' In Christ', 'Leaning on You', 'Every Time I Pray', 'Wherever', 'Make Me Strong' and also 'Life of Purpose'. Benjamin Manuel plays bass on the title track, 'Leaning on You ' and 'Life of Purpose'. He uses a Yamaha TRB John Patitucci 6 string bass guitar.

This album is also proud to have experienced background vocalist Alan Tan. Alan was involved in the Harvest of The Field 2004 album which won a category in the Australian Gospel Award. There are also young and inspiring singers like Deborah Ayeni, George Igoni and Gimras Wrigal.

Community Baptist Church, P.J. underwent some extensive renovations in 1998. We tore down the roof of two shop lots and convert the upstairs of the two lots into one big hall without obstructing pillars in the centre.

A few exchange of emails and phone calls later, we made arrangements so i could test out the little box (PX-4). Their service is very good.

We are priviledged to host the 1st ever Sound and Jazz Training by G.SUS in Sabah and under the tutelage of Bro. Timothy himself. We had a good number of participants from churches in Kota Kinabalu also.

The courses on Sound Engineering Level 1 and Jazz Harmony Level 2 are well structured and are suited for churches especially with contemporary band settings. Our worship team benefitted greatly in knowing the fundamental and basic of the right way of getting the sound together and playing as one. The Jazz Harmony sessions gave us insight to a whole new universe of coloring of the music we play.

On a personal note as a player and a keen sound enthusiast I was greatly blessed for the refresher on Sound Engineering and learning new stuff on Jazz Harmony. I now have a whole year to practice what is being learned before Timothhy comes back again. He also gave us some useful recommendations on upgrading of our sound system.

Feedback on Kok Yen's Dr Drum Workshop

The workshop was structured and well prepared with helpful notes and actual demonstration. The Q&A session was good and everyone has a chance for a short individual session on the drum. Overall, the session has been fruitful and professionally carried it out. I would highly recommend Kok Yen for any churches that would like to elevate their drummers' technical skills.
Feedback on Timothy's Training

Over 2 weeks, Timothy has successfully and effectively carried out the modules of training planned for FBC, namely Jazz Harmony, Sound Engineering & Ensemble Training. The sessions and course contents are of high professional standard, yet with flexibility to tailor made for the needs of FBC. Timothy's approach to technical training has been very hands on and practical, getting everyone out of their comfort zone by pushing the team to a higher level of skill. Acoustic can make or kill the sound in your hall Part I

Remember the time you went house hunting? You would enter the empty property and it would be echo-ey. Sometimes it was so bad you couldn't hear what others were saying even they were just a few feet away. Of course the sound or 'acoustic' changed when you move in with furnitures, fixtures, curtains and all. This ehco-ey sound or reverb can be disasterous for a church hall. More so for the modern worship band. The shape, dimensions, finishing and furnitures will determine how it sounds - regardless of what type of sound system you have.

SHAPE - is the hall square, rectangle, shell, round, L or T?

Dimensions - usually anything more than a shoplot will start posing problems with acoustic

Finishing - are the floor, wall and ceiling reflective surfaces?

Furnitures - are they reflective or cushioned?
